How to sink without water?

Today I’m going to tell you how I got the effect of muddy water in this picture:Fais attention aux roches humides, fais attention si t'es nu-pieds

So if you need to pretend that you are sinking but you are too lazy to go outside and find a pond or the idea of staying in cold water for a long time freaks you out (which is understandable), that is what you can do… At least, that’s what I’ve done.

My trick is very simple: I used a coffee table. :D Really, it seemed perfect. There was enough space for me on the bottom shelf and two pieces of glass above were supposed to make myself “blurred”. To get even more blurred picture I focused on the top shelf (I put a lens cap on it to make it easier).

There was one more detail. I planned to add a fish somewhere near my left hand (so it would be obvious that I was under water) but I didn’t want it to be blurred so much, so I decided to make it and another hand more in focus (kind of perspective, you know). So in the first picture my right hand is under the top shelf.

Outtakes.

Here it is.

If you think the moral is that you need to have such coffee table in your living room in case you want to shoot something like this, you are wrong. All I want to say is simply… look around and use everything you can! Set your imagination free and don’t be afraid of trying something new even if it seems silly!

That’s all. Stay creative!
